Key features and tools of Instagram creator account

Its key feature is Insights, which gives you data on your content performance, account overview, engagement rates, and more. There are also content management tools that’ll track ads, partnership posts, and more.

How to start using an Instagram creator account

Switching from a personal account to a creator account takes less than a minute. Tap the three lines at the top of your profile page, scroll down to Account type and tools, and tap Switch to professional account.

Opt for the Creator tab, and you’ll be prompted to choose your Category–gamer, foodie, beauty–choose one that describes you best.

And just like that, you’re now a creator account with access to Instagram’s professional content creation tools.

Start exploring your professional dashboard

Now you’re all set to dig deep into your account and content performance. On your profile, tap professional dashboard, and you’ll see Insights, Your tools and Tips and resources.

The insights tab is where all your data lies. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, start by looking at your reach metrics in the Accounts reached tab. Here, you’ll find out the number of accounts your content has reached, and you can view the performance of every post, sorted by top content.

You can study the analytics behind your posts by tapping on any. You can also tap View insights on posts in your feed. You’ll get an overview of the post performance, including reach, impression, and engagement rates.

When it comes to metrics, try looking beyond vanity metrics such as likes, and instead look at the number of Saves you have as an indicator of your content quality. When your audience saves your content, it indicates that your post is high quality and is something that they want to return to.

There’s also plenty to dig into in the Total followers tab, where you get access to your follower performance, and their demographics like locations, gender, and age range. It also answers an age-old question in content creating: when’s the best time to post? The Most active times data lets you strategise posting times, ensuring your content reaches the right audience, at the right time.

Other useful tools

With an Instagram creator account, you’ll also get access to branded content tools that simplify posting campaign content (hello, paid partnership label!) and other tools to track partnership ads, allowing you to understand your campaign content’s performance, and making it easier to pitch for your next brand deal.

Creator account also offers filtered inboxes that let you categorise your DMs (no more overlooking important messages!), and an Inspiration tab that suggests reels and trending audio.
